Travel, Well-Made
Our best advice on thoughtful trips, great food, and memorable experiences beyond the tourist checklist
Why not travel well?
We’re Kirsten & Kenny.
Between Kenny’s job as a film & TV camera operator (which sends us interesting places) and Kirsten’s as a Decision Coach (which keeps her intentional and picky), we’ve spent a lot of time traveling and figuring out how to do it well.
We have healthy obsessions with:
Great food: From a mom & pop stands to Michelin stars, morning croissants to tasting menus, we want and find great food)
Great views: Usually attained by biking, hiking or finicular-ing to them
Worth-it experiences: Often avoiding the most generic touristy version of a destination (like renting your own boat to see Lake Como instead of taking a tour, or walking to the top of Florence’s Duomo instead of just looking at it from the street)
And traveling smart: Kenny’s got a thing for EDC* and research, while Kirsten loves efficiency and a thoughtful plan, so together, we’ve developed some strong travel philosophies
*He’s one of those Everyday Carry people who always has a knife and flashlight, “just in case,” which Kirsten rolls her eyes about until she needs a box cut open.
We’re childless-by-choice 40-somethings with 3 dogs, a love of our hometown LA, and a good sense of humor.
We started Travel, Well-made so we can help people like us craft intentional trips more easily. Enjoy!

Who even are these people and why should we listen to them?
Fair question.
Here are the highlights:
Our first big trip together was driving back to Los Angeles from Kenny’s first camera job after Covid (yeesh), which was up near Big Sur. After magical hiking through Redwoods, we explored wine and food in places like Healdsburg and Paso Robles that are often bypassed for their shiny Napa neighbors.
We got married a year-to-the-day after we met and combined a ceremony and honeymoon into one glorious trip to Bora Bora, to which we invited zero people.
